"Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself."

- Rumi -

Healing: the process of making or becoming sound or healthy again.

Wellness: the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort.

Healing isn’t only about fixing a problem. It’s about getting to a place of wholeness within ourselves in body, mind + spirit. Sometimes that involves fixing something but many times it involves accommodating and accepting what is and moving on from there.

It's not about being your best self, it's about being your true self.

Healing & Wellness Arts focuses on healing through evidence based behavioral and mental health interventions. We all come to desire change through our different life experiences. We are here to support you and the diverse perspectives you bring to our work together. We hope to honor and celebrate those experiences in finding what works for you.

Thank you for allowing us to support you on your journey for a more satisfying life.

We're so glad you're here.

I’ve never talked to anyone. I’m used to handling things on my own. Aren’t people who go to therapy weak?
Mental health is health care treatment. If you were having a problem with your blood sugar, would you handle that on your own? Sometimes what we are going through needs some assistance from an outside perspective. It doesn't mean that something is wrong with you or that you're weak, it means that you recognize that you can get help and you don't need to go through your things alone. Your perspective can reshape your experience.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?
A therapist is a trained professional who applies their knowledge of theories to help you make connections about what is currently happening in your life. A therapist is there to support you and your goals, without judgement, and to provide an objective understanding of your particular situation.

How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?
Please be yourself in session. It's the therapist's role to help you feel comfortable being yourself. A successful therapeutic relationship is part of how you work through the concerns that brought you to therapy.

How long will it take?
This depends on you and what your goals are. Some people have focused, short term goals they wish to accomplish. Other people begin to recognize that there are some patterns that repeat often in their life and want to continue working on them.

I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?
The most important way to get the most out of therapy is to be yourself and to be honest with your therapist. Spending some time in between sessions reflecting on or working on what was discussed in the previous session also can make a big difference in how well therapy goes. For many of us, therapy is about building new habitual ways of responding to what we think, feel and experience. The best way to build new habits is to practice. We look forward to working with you and supporting you on your journey.
Healing & Wellness Arts offers a free 15 minute phone consultation to determine if our practice will be a good fit for you. Looking through the website to get an understanding of the practice theories and philosophies will help give you a sense if we are theoretically aligned.

If you would like to move forward, you will be emailed additional practice forms that must be completed prior to the first session. This email is encrypted and HIPAA compliant. It requires you to sign into a portal to complete the forms to ensure that your confidential information is protected.

Sessions are done via Simple Practice's HIPAA compliant video platform. There will be an additional portal message from Simple Practice. Simple Practice has an app you can download on your phone or tablet to participate in sessions if you do not have access to a computer.

Payment
Payment for co-pays or co-insurances are due at the end of each session and we require you to have a credit card on file though Square. It is the client's responsibility to keep that information current.
Your co-pay/co-insurance rates are set by your insurance; please contact them for information regarding services with In-Network providers. We are able to see clients as an out-of-network provider with the appropriate pre-authorizations. We will provide all the necessary paperwork for you to be reimbursed by your insurance.

Sessions are 53-60 minutes long, and begin at the set scheduled time. If you are late, your session will be shorter, and will not be extended. If I am late, I will do my best to properly notify you, as well as extend the session to accommodate the full time.

Cancellation of a scheduled session must be done at least 24 hours in advance. While emergencies do occur, on your second late cancellation (less than 24 hours) or no show for your appointment, you are responsible for the total insurance rate cost for mental health services or a fee of $125, whichever is the lesser amount. After three consecutive no show or late cancellation occurrences, the practice may elect to begin termination of the relationship with you.
